Spailp

A new body of indoors/outdoors experiential work from Fanzini Productions. A brief but glorious experience of your life’s most exquisite moments inside our beautiful bespoke venue. Spailp is a non-verbal show for 5 minutes for 5 people at a time.

Spailp has been supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and created by Con Horgan and Kim
Mc Cafferty of Fanzini Productions in two residencies in Spraoi Studios Waterford and at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Monagahan 2019. Directed by Adrian Schvarzstein with props and costumes designed and made by Spraoi Waterford.

What is Spailp?
Spailp was two years in the making, brewing in our brains, rumbling round our hearts.
We wanted to make something different, something fresh.
We dreamed of something that could invite the audience to not simply be passive consumers of our performance but to include them in an immersive way.
We wanted to share the moments of joy we felt while playing onstage, the lightness & freedom of letting yourself go to silliness and play.
Firmly believing that as comedian Victor Borges said, “Laughter is the shortest distance between two people”.
And so we decided to create SPAILP, an invitation to enter our collective imagination.
Inside our theatre tent the audience are brought through five worlds on a theatrical journey with both of us performing multiple characters. SPAILP offers a totally unique programming opportunity.
Our 4m x4m tent draws an immense amount of curiosity and on street advertising for your festival.
We bring absolutely everything.
All you have to provide is the space on your streets & electricity.

“Feedback for Spailp has literally been phenomenal” Claire Galvin, Féile na Bealtaine Dingle.

“Original, thoughtful and laugh out loud funny” Miriam Dunne, Waterford Spraoi International Festival

“We hosted Spailp at ILFDublin (International Literature Festival Dublin)
and I was blown away by it’s creativity and inventiveness. It’s 5 mins of sheer joy, delight and wonder. I cannot recommend it highly enough!”
Sarah Webb, Programmer, ILFDublin

“What a delightful and absurdly wonderful show,
professionally managed by the performers, the perfect addition to a day out.”
Paul Hayes, Drogheda Arts Festival
